It is with heavy hearts that the family of Serena Mantini Spagnol announce her passing on Saturday, September 11, 2021, following a brief illness. Serena was born in Matelica, Macerata, Marche, Italy on September 14, 1949, to Enedina (Bravetti) and Americo Mantini. Predeceased by her father Americo (1977), and her brother Aldo (1999), she leaves behind her beloved mamma Enedina, her partner in life Ellard “Obie” O’Brien, her children Adam (Jody) Spagnol and Stephanie (Mark) Armitage, stepdaughters Dani Robinson and Mindi O’Brien. Her life’s big loves, grandchildren Nathanial & Grayson Spagnol, Kinsley Armitage, Riley & Ireland Robinson, Alex and Jen O’Brien. Her loving and caring siblings, Jane (Salvatore) Cocco, Johnny (Gloria Parker) Mantini, Sandra (Ian) Blundy, Barbara (Dave) Mantini-Colonico and Ann (Joseph) Mantini-Celima, sister-in-law Mary Mantini. Her dear mother-in-law Bette O’Brien, and in-laws John (Bonnie) Spagnol & David (Trish) Spagnol, Margaret (Terry) Sullivan, Lori (Rob) Parker, Tim (Lori) O’Brien. Many loving nieces & nephews, Michael (Andrea, Kira, Brianna) Cocco, Sandra, (Tisha Barnes, Matthew & Rebecca) Durksen, Sarahfina (James, Judah & Juliette) Tourangeau, Alessandra (Nicholas & Liliana) Taylor, Robert & Andrew Colonico, Robert Mantini, Christopher (Catherine, Hannah, Taylor) Spagnol, Joshua (Lindsey, William) Spagnol, Natalie (Mark & Lucille) Spagnol-Hodges, Quinton Spagnol and many, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We would like to thank all our family, friends, and neighbours for all their prayers and support during this difficult time; to NHS medical staff and non-medical staff and to all the community health organizations for their care and support.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Serena’s family during a visitation on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10-11am at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines. A Funeral Mass will immediately take place at 11am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, registration for the visitation and Funeral Mass is required by contacting the funeral home at 905-937-4444. Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Centre was established by Serena’s brother, Aldo Mantini. As a proud volunteer and member, Serena has requested donations be made to Wellspring Niagara.
All guests attending the funeral and visitation must wear a mask. Funeral capacity is limited to 330 guests. All who wish to join must call the Funeral Home to RSVP
