Obituary of Ronald Murray Statham
Ronald Statham
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ron Statham on Tuesday December 28th at the age of 86.
Loving husband of Betty for 59 years, beloved father of Michael, Marian, Laurie, and Mark, and proud grandfather of Andrew, Rachel, and Sarah, affectionately known as “Papa”. He is deeply loved and will be so missed by all.
Ron loved life, his family, and his generosity and kindness to others had no limits. He was an incredibly selfless and giving man who demonstrated strength of character and dedication in everything he did.
He took a job at a bank in his high school years to support his single mother Dorothy whom he loved dearly. He worked hard to put himself through night school to attain his CGA, following which he dedicated himself to a long career as an accountant. He cultivated a wonderful life and enjoyed many great years of retirement spending time both in Florida and at home in Ballantrae, enjoying golf, snooker, swimming, and sharing time with family and friends. He was an avid sports enthusiast, hallmarked by his passion for hockey and baseball. He would be quick to tell you that retirement was one of the best jobs of his life.
The way he carried out the last six weeks of his life following his diagnosis was exemplary of the man that he was. He faced his diagnosis head on with a strength and courage that was truly inspiring. He dedicated the time spending it with his loved ones, and true to the person he is, spent the time taking care of affairs and put an enormous amount of love and energy into giving to others.
He will be deeply missed and his inspiring ways will live on in our hearts forever.

  1. I knew Ron as a friend for over 20 years. We golfed together, in Ontario, Quebec, and Florida. We competed in Snooker in competition between Ballantrae and Swan Lake. In every case Ron was a perfect gentleman with a beautiful dry sense of humour.
After the death of my wife in 2008, Ron was very kind to me by inviting me to come down to Florida and stay with him for a couple of weeks. I will never forget that!
A true gentleman and a fine fellow. Will be truely missed.
