Obituary for
Ronald Birkett
Our family announces with great sorrow Ron’s passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 66 years. Beloved husband of Barb Birkett (nee Hastie). Loving father of Carol Hearth (Leon), Rachel McDonald (Pete), Rhonda Birkett (Claude) and Ronnie (Krista) Gauthier. Dear Step-father of Paul Cimini (Jennifer) and Cheryl Cimini (Jeff). Much loved grandpa of Vaughn, Holly, Carly, Xavier, Matthew, Emily, Zackery, Andrea ”Missy”, Ava, Katrina, Dakotah and James. Favourite Grampy of Denver. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Birkett, Rita Tourout and twin brother Harold Birkett, his brother-in-law Iain Hastie (Sharon) and his mother-in-law Mary Hastie, and their families. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, Jasen, Brooke, Katie and Adrianna Ouellet, Corey Chenier, Cesar, Marley, Joy Joy. Ron will also be missed by his fur babies Tutsi, Smokey and Amber. Ron is pre-deceased by his parents Donald and Eva Birkett, his brother Michael, his father-in-law John Hastie and his sister-in-law Janet Hastie. Also waiting to greet him in heaven is Snowball, Dolly, Lucy, Bella, Jaden and Happy.
Ron loved his family and friends; they were a very important part of his life, as were his pets. He enjoyed “chillin” around the house with his fur babies at his side. Ron also loved watching horse racing at Woodbine and Mohawk racetracks and shared his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs with step-son Paul and granddaughter Carly during hockey season. He worked at Canadian Tire in the service department for many years in Kitchener, Whitby, Thunder Bay and Timmins. Ron was taken from us much too early due to complications from kidney disease, but his beautiful smile and sense of humour( which were amazing ) will live on in our memories forever.
We would like to thank Dr. Kvas, Dr. Schwertfeger, Dr. Hopkins, Dr. Parmar, The TDH Dialysis Department, TDH Palliative Care(they were Awesome), and a special thanks to all the Nurses, PSW’s, Dietary Aides, Housekeeping, & anyone else from TDH- St. Mary’s site. You were all a huge part of Ron’s life these past 6 1/2 months and for that we are so grateful. Thank you all for treating him with such kindness, respect, and dignity, even though at times it was difficult to do so.
“When the human companion dies, on their way to Heaven, they cross the meadow. While doing so, the pet (along with all of the other pets the human owned on Earth), sees its owner and runs to greet him. Reunited, the pets and the humans cross the Rainbow Bridge together into Heaven, never again to be parted.”
As per his wishes, cremation was held and there will be no visitation or service. Remembrance donations to Diabetes Canada, Timmins Humane Society or C&K Critters would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
