Ron passed away at home on Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 in his 90th year. Born in Port Hope, Ontario. He was the beloved husband of Hazel May for 68 years. He was predeceased by his parents Edith Hall and Eric Munro, sisters Jean, Marguerite, Bonnie and brother Peter.
Cherished Dad of Arlene (Douglas), Jennifer (Glen), Sheila, deceased (Roger) and Janice (Adam). Proud Grandpa of Elizabeth (Paul), Caitlin, Samuel, Michael, Austin, Eileen and Great-Grandpa of Emerson. He enjoyed the company of extended family members. Ron started his teaching career as principal in one-room schools in Silent Valley Bewdley, Pontypool, Newtonville, then Newcastle Public, M.J Hobbs Sr. Public Hampton, and Central Public Bowmanville for a total of 36 years. He always enjoyed going to work, his love of learning influenced his many students, parents and faculty for three decades. He also thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings and vacations at the cottage, and after retirement, Principal get-togethers, and trips to Florida, Prince Edward Island and Expo 76 in British Columbia, always by car. His riding lawnmower cut lots of grass and provided him with transportation to the mailbox. He enjoyed watching the kid’s race up and down the street on their bikes, was keenly aware of the birds coming to the feeders and appreciated the friendships developed over the years with students, family, neighbours and members of the community. A Celebration of Life to take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Newcastle Funeral Home, Newcastle, Ontario. Ron we treasure the memories and hold dear the time we had together. We’ll all remember those times for the rest of our lives. Our thanks to the 911 attendant, fire crew responders, paramedics and police services for making this trying time easier to handle.
