Rolande Marie Gaudet passed away peacefully on August 27th at the age of 92, in Rosthern, surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born in Bellevue on February 12, 1929 to Hector and Armandine Gaudet. She met her partner for life, Roger, and they were married on October 18, 1951. They had 6 busy children. Mom spent her time shuffling the kids to different activities, keeping everyone well fed from her home garden and even helped dad in the office, at the garage. Mom was always someone who was more than happy to help wherever she could. Her greatest love was her family.
A few of mom’s favorite pass times included playing card games with family and friends, doing jigsaw puzzles, and taking family fishing trips. She became a pro at organizing our annual Meat Pie making day. Her favorite part of these was being surrounded by loved ones.
Soon after Roger passed, Mom made her big move…across the street. This was her new home, and she loved it. She brought her love of puzzles with her, subtly enticing some of the workers and her grandchildren to find pieces for whatever she was working on. She loved nothing more than when her family would stop in just to say hi, then end up staying a little bit longer. This would always put a smile on her face. She could not have been more pleased when these visits were face to face again.
Mom will be remembered by all for her infectious laughter and radiant smile.
Mom is survived by her children: François, Constant & Mary, Jean & Laurel, Claire & Lyle Bassingthwaite, Lucie & Randy Altman, and Michelle. Her grandchildren: James & Holly, Joël Gaudet & Janelle Studer, Adele & Eric Wotherspoon, Tiffiny & Chris Middelkoop, Jordin & Lisa Bassingthwaite, Stefanie Bassingthwaite, Camille & Adam Matheson, D.J. Gaudet & Becca Thiessen, Jared and Sean Altman. Her great-grandchildren: Kemper, Finley, Quinn, Nathan & Erica. Her in-laws: Lydia, Yvette, Rosaline, Lucille, Hélene, Gilles(Monique) Nicole(Don), and Sylvain(Charlene). Her “adopted” children: Ronald, Louisa, and Thérèse. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Roger, her grandson Lorne, her parents Hector & Armandine, her parents-in-law: Jean & Germaine, all her siblings, and many other family members.
Prayers will be held August 30th at 7:30pm; Funeral will be held August 31st at 2:00pm. Both services will be held at St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bellevue Care Home.
