Roger’s Obituary
THORBURN – Roger Dale McGill, 77, Thorburn, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
Born in Brampton, Ont., he was a son of the late Ernie and Jean McGill. Roger was a large equipment operator, having been a crane operator building the CN Tower, and Canada Wonderland, Toronto. Throughout his 50 plus year career, he was employed in road, commercial and utility construction. Roger was a pioneer in the training of equipment operators, a chief instructor in the union, writing and teaching many of the courses offered. He enjoyed spending time with his canine companions. Roger possessed a strong work ethic, meticulous organization, and an unparalleled comprehension of many subjects. He was a carefree, outgoing person who will be dearly missed by those he loved.
Surviving are his son, Kory McGill, Mississauga, Ont.; step-children, Michelle (Tery) Organ, Salt Springs; Bonita (Ray) Derraugh, Dutton, Ont.; Tammy Poirier, Calgary, Alta.; Ken Poirier, Edmonton, Alta.; granddaughter, Maddie McGill, Texas.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Marguerite Noonan; brother, Ernie.
In honour of Roger’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
