Roderick Joseph Mead
January 30, 1936 ~ May 9, 2021
Mr. Roderick Joseph Mead passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Rod was born January 30, 1936 to Frederick Mead in Calgary, Alberta. Rod took his schooling in Calgary. Rod worked in the security industry, covering a wide variety of locations and events from Construction to Strike efforts.
Rod married the love of his life Violet on August 16, 1983, the couple retired to the Drumheller Valley in June of 2015. Rod worked part time with a trailer park. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, hunting, he was a true outdoorsman. Rod was also a fishing guide for a number of years in Ontario on Lake of the Woods.
There will not be any formal funeral services, Rod will be laid to rest with his father at a later date at the Queens Park Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his soulmate Violet, his daughter Brunetta Montgomery, grandchildren Sheyanne, Chelsey, Courtney, Krystal, great grandson, and Violet’s family. Rod was predeceased by his dad Frederick.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
