Robert James McNeil, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 at St Joseph’s Health Centre Clarion site. He was the beloved Husband of Carol McKinnon, predeceased wife Audrey and father of Robert (Danny predeceased), Dean, David (wife Louise), Paul (wife Kathy), and stepsons Mark (wife Anne), and Craig (Eileen). Grandfather to Shannon, Robert, Jamie, Connor, Brooklyn (predeceased), Madison, Jordan, Caleb, Ben, Scotia, Farrah, Ella, Megan, Murdock, and great grandfather of 8.
He was born in New Liskeard on August 6th, 1932 and moved to Copper Cliff in 1964 where he lived until his death. Robert taught and was Vice Principal at Copper Cliff Public School and Principal at Alexander and Robinson Public Schools. He was a graduate of Laurentian University and completed his Masters of Education at the University of Ottawa. He loved the game of hockey, being active and learning. He lived with an eternal focus, serving and worshipping the Lord in his daily life and as a member of Lively Baptist Church, All Nations Church and later in life at the Berean Baptist Church. He had deep knowledge of scripture and lived his life amazed at the beauty of God’s Word, his Grace and His free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins. We know that today he is in God’s presence, in a place beyond imagination, prepared for him by our Lord.
A private funeral service will be held for immediate family at Berean Baptist Church. Donations may be given to Teen Challenge, a charity he saw as making the difference in the lives of young men suffering from addiction related illnesses.
