Bob was a true oilman and served in the oil patch in Saskatchewan and Alberta for over 40 years. He started his career with Kenn Immler Services as a service rig driller and tool pusher in Estevan and Gull Lake. He then changed to working as a battery operator and then production supervisor for Ashland Oil in Gull Lake and Drayton Valley. Later, Bob and his family returned to Estevan. He chose Fabro Industries of Swift Current to build a new hot oil unit and started up his own company called Ringo Services. With a wealth of oil production experience Bob embarked on his own career as a petroleum consultant. He named his company Dial Consulting. Sharon was Bob’s office administrator. Bob supervised the drilling, completion and work over maintenance of new or existing oil wells. He also supervised the construction and maintenance of new or existing oil production battery sites. Bob also supervised oil production for numerous oil companies in Southeast Saskatchewan. He was well known and respected in the oil industry through working relationships with numerous different petroleum service and supply companies and their staffs. Dial Consulting was the pinnacle of Bob’s successful petroleum career which he operated until his retirement.
Bob had a great sense of humour. He loved to tease with a twinkle in his eye and made everyone feel welcome. He had a voracious appetite for books as well as food. His infamous eyebrow would always shoot up at the mention of treats and was always appreciative of a good meal. He also enjoyed curling, golfing and was a Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket holder for many years. The Labour Day Classic will always remind the family of his feisty exit out of the motorhome to “greet” some Blue Bomber fans. Bob was very mechanically inclined and thoroughly enjoyed building projects around the house and never missed the opportunity to lend his kids or grandkids a helping hand. He was always ready to listen to stories and tell his own about the oil industry, farming, current events or politics in the coffee shops or when visiting with friends and family.
After their retirement Bob and Sharon moved from Estevan to Regina. To say they loved dancing would be an understatement; Bob and Sharon were excellent dancers. They traveled to Polka Fests across Canada and the United States, especially enjoying the Walter Ostanek Band, whom they befriended throughout the years. Many of these trips were in their motorhome, which was their home away from home.
Bob was a proud family man who cherished his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the EMS First Responders, the attending nurses and doctors of the Regina General Hospital Emergency Ward and the ICU Surgical Unit. We would especially like to thank Dr. Sy and Nurse Megan of the ICU Surgical Unit for the kind care and compassion shown to our Dad and the family.
As per Bob’s wishes, the family will have a Private Interment. Flowers are graciously declined. Bob’s wishes are that you do a polka in his honour.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Glenn Sweeney August 30th 2021..
