Rene’s Obituary
On May 30, 2021 Rene Roger Leroux of Slave Lake, AB passed away at the age of 82 years after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Rene is survived by his daughter Rachel Leroux of Slave Lake; Grandson Andrew Slabodian; 2 Grand Daughters Lesleigh Leroux and Raelynn Leroux; 2 Gr Grand children Avery Joe Lanovaz and Drayden Lanovaz; 4 sisters Georgette Duchesne, Alice Kahanyshyn, Rita Leroux, all of Bonnyville, Isabelle(Dixon)John of Cache Creek, B.C.; 1 brother Andrew(MaryAnne)Leroux of La Corey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rene was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1979; his parents Joseph and Genevieve Leroux, 5 brothers Ivan, Leo, Louis, Gille and Frank, 2 Brother-in-laws Roland Duchesne and Adolph Kahanyshyn
Rene was born and raised in the Bonnyville area. He worked in construction and lumbering jobs throughout Alberta and B.C. and farm labor for his brother-in-law at Dupre. In recent years he lived in Glendon until he became ill and moved to Slave Lake where his Daughter Rachel cared for him until his movement to Long-Term Care in Slave Lake. Special thanks to the caregivers at LTC for their compassionate care of Rene in his last days.
Memorial donations in memory of Rene may be made to the Animal Rescue Committee of
Slave Lake at 901 – 75 St NE Box 1523 Slave Lake, AB T0G 2A0
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
