Ralph Eugene MacMullin 85, of Louisbourg, passed away Monday August 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Louisbourg on July 22, 1936, he was the son of the late John and Stella (Dixon) MacMullin.
Dad was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. After working 33 years with Parks Canada he retired in 1995. Previous to this, for two years he sailed on the Canadian Coast Guard ship Labrador. After his retirement he could be found around town, painting homes, and helping at the Louisbourg Motorhome & RV park with Mary.
Dads family was his life, he enjoyed travelling and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. You could always catch him on the side lines at the rink or ball field where he developed many long lasting friendships. Dad volunteered countless hours to Louisbourg Little League and Stella Maris Parish over his life.
You could rarely see Dad without his best friend and neighbour Johnny MacDonald. Dad and Johnny had an unreachable relationship, always driving through town with their morning coffee, and at night travelling to sports events. Dadthoroughly enjoyed his many drives, laughs, and arguments with Johnny.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of57 years Mary (Baldwin), sons David (Sherie Mulvihill), Coxheath, Kevin(Monique), Sydney, sisters Tish (Ernie) Lahey, Louisbourg, Theresa MacKinnon, Truro, Betty, California, brother Mickey (Jean), NB, grandchildren Brett, Jake, Tavish, Teyah, Ayden, Natalia, Alyssa, Johnny, and great granddaughter Charlotte.
He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret, Sadie, Sister Mary Roderick, brothers Patrick, Roderick, John, George, Greg, Daniel, Peter, brother and sister in law Aubrey and Patsy Harris.
Visitation will take place Thursday August 12, 2021 from 4-7pm in Stella Marris Church, Louisbourg. Funeral mass will be held Friday August 13, 2021 at 3 pm in Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg, with Rev. Evo DiPierro officiating. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery, Old Town.
Memorials may be made to Stella Maris Parish Louisbourg Building fund.
Special thanks to the nurses of VON ,palliative care, Dr. Patel, and Irene who spent every day in the last six months by their sides.
