Obituary of Phyllis Audrey Gates
Gates, Phyllis Audrey – 86, of Deep Brook, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, on July 30, 2021. Born in Annapolis Royal she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Lena (Goldsmith) Rice. Prior to her marriage she worked as a book keeper at the Britex plant in Centrelea. Phyllis enjoyed belonging to a bowling league, walks and was especially fond of her cat Susie. Phyllis was a strong and independent women. She enjoyed living in her own home until a recent illness took her to the hospital. Phyllis is survived by her loving family, son, Robert and wife Terri and their children, Stephanie (Kelsey) and Nathan (Kristy) of Enfield; son, Murray and wife Jacqueline and their children, Harrison and Owen of Hammonds Plains; brother, Harold (Pauline) Rice of Lake LaRose; nephews, Richard, Larry, Lynn, Sean, Greg, Jeff and Peter; nieces, Cathy, Janine, Suzanne and Lois. Predeceased by her loving husband, Lewis Starratt Gates (2011); sister, Marjorie (Ellsworth) Freeman; brother-in-law, Tom and Phillip Gates; sister-in-law, Irene (Pete) Banks. The family would like to acknowledge the doctors, nurses and all other staff in the ICU department at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Their level of professionalism and compassion gave Phyllis the best care possible. Visitation will held 7 – 9 pm Tuesday, August 3, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Covid 19 restrictions will be followed. A private family funeral will be held at a later date in St. Edwards Anglican Church, Clementsport. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River.
