Age 88, Cheticamp. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pauline Lucy Slaton on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp.
Pauline was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia to the late Duncan George Fraser and the late Marie Bella (Chiasson) Bourgeois. At a very young age she moved to Cheticamp, her ancestral home. As a youth, Pauline could be seen participating in sports like baseball, swimming, and skating. She remained a lifelong sports fan and watching sports was one of her favorite past times. After graduating from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, she practiced her profession in several cities in the USA. After retiring, she returned to Cheticamp. For many years, Pauline could be found camping for the summer at the campground on Cheticamp Island.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Cassandra (Clarence) Slaton-Deveau; sons, David (Marlene) Slaton, Robert (Susan) Slaton, and William (Jayne) Slaton; half-sister, Bernice MacGregor; half-brothers, George Fraser and David Fraser; grandchildren, Olivia (Tim) Deveau, Sebastian Deveau, Geoffrey (Mina) Slaton, Jennifer (Justin) Slaton, Christina Slaton; great grandchildren, Brigham Boyd and Leena Boyd; many cousins, relatives and friends; (mentioning, Pauline AuCoin and Donna Timmons). Besides her parents and step-father, Willie à Arsene Bourgeois, Pauline was predeceased by step-brothers, Neil Bourgeois, Joseph Bourgeois, and Raymond Bourgeois; half-brothers, Robert Bourgeois, John Alexander Fraser, John Roderick Fraser, Truesdale Fraser; and beloved aunt Lucy AuCoin.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, there will be no funeral service.
