Obituary
It is with profound sadness and heavy broken hearts that the family of Paul James Slater, born May 18th, 1974, of North Battleford, Sk., announces his sudden passing on Friday, June 11th, 2021 at the age of 47. Lovingly remembered by his uncles: Jerry Slater (Laura),their children, Gord Slater (Colleen), aunt, Wanda Slater (Tony Klimas),their daughters: Jayne Slater, her son Noah, Suzzanne Slater (Brandon Boudreau), their daughter Lillian.
Paul was born and raised in North Battleford. affectionately know as Paulos, to family and friends, had to fight many debilitating health battles from a young age throughout the remainder of his life. Cancer, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Heart and Kidney Disease, he fought though and wasn’t afraid to voice his explicit opinions on these issues. He had a wicked sense of humor about life.
His favorite past times were coffee with his uncle Jerry and aunt Laura, babysitting their fur babies, movies with aunt Wanda and uncle Tony, conversations and joking around with uncle Gord. He enjoyed his Stephen King Novels, his movie collection, his vehicles, travelling, boating, fishing, talking and sending funny clips to his friends and family through Facebook and messenger, and of course his tattoos. He had just recently purchased a boat and was planning a trip with family and friends. He was very proud of obtaining his boating license and getting all the required necessities for his first trip to the lake.
As many of you know Paul worked hard, took pride in his job at Battleford Housing Authority, giving the best and sometimes beyond until his health declined and he had to step away, many funny stories were told about the quirky predicaments he had gotten himself into while working. He had hoped that one day he would be able to return.
He was a generous person, giving what time he could spare to help others on their projects. His love of animals was apparent to everyone, often picking strays and finding them their furrever homes with his friends. He just recently made friends with a little black sleek kitten and immediately bought her treats, so he could visit with her outside.
He will be dearly missed by numerous family and friends, because Paulos could make friends everywhere he went in life. He made many friendships via social media with people he never had a chance to meet, but hoped to one day.
Predeceased by his mother Jeannie A. Slater last November, uncle Jim Slater, grandparents Jean E. and Joseph A. Slater all of North Battleford, Sk. A private viewing for family was held on June 15th and a private family Celebration of Life will take place later on this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Battlefords Humane Society Po Box 645 North Battleford, SK S9A 2Y7. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium.
