Obituary of Patric John Pictin
August 14, 1962 – September 7, 2021
It is with the deepest sorrow I announce the passing of Pat Pictin, my father, my friend, and my lifelong mentor.
Pat was born in Nelson, B.C., and grew up in Salmo, B.C. He later moved to Creston when he was a young teen. He met his first love Leslie Pelton (Hadikin) when they were 18 and 17. They spent time in Vancouver, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Kimberley, finally residing in Cranbrook in 1991.
Pat took the Renewable Resource Management course at the Lethbridge College in the 1980’s. He worked as a Water Technician at the Ministry of Environment and as a Compliance and Enforcement Officer at the Ministry of Forests. He also spent some years prior to these careers with C.P Rail.
Pat and Leslie had their daughter Annica in 1989, Pat and Annica were very close and shared many similar interests. They both had a love of the great outdoors, cooking and their taste in music. Pat dedicated his life to passing on his knowledge to his daughter. They spent much of their life exploring together and loved going for their bush cruises. Pat also had and amazing library of knowledge with antiques. He collected antiques since he was a young kid, with a particular fondness for antique bottles.
His other passion in life was vehicles. He loved muscle cars, and any other vehicle. Pat loved to take Annica to car shows when she was young and point out cool old cars when they were driving. He would always state the make, model, and year.
Pat loved animals of all sorts and had many dogs in his lifetime. You never saw Pat without his dog with him, until the recent passing of Tika.
I am going to miss my dad so much; I feel as if I am missing a huge part of myself. I will miss our daily phone calls with an often-hilarious story, one he had to tell me that happened that day.
No worry or anxious fear for the one resting here.
Pat is survived by his beloved daughter Annica Pictin, her fiancé Brodie Donaldson, his sister Peggy Pictin and many other close cousins.
He was predeceased by his father John Pictin and his mother Tena Chernenko.
There will be a Celebration of Life, by invitation only due to Covid protocols. To take part in the service via Live Streaming, please go onto Pat’s obituary page on www.mcphersonfh.com and click the tab that says Live Steaming of Service on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 1:00pm.
