Patricia Wright Friday June 25th 2021

PATRICIA ELAINE WRIGHT, B.Mus.A, LL.B, ICD.D
(July 16, 1956 – June 25, 2021)
Our treasured wife, mother, sister, aunt, in-law, mentor, colleague, and friend tragically and suddenly lost her life to cancer on Friday, June 25, 2021, just shy of her 65th birthday.
Dearly beloved wife and life partner of Jim Sanders for over 46 years. Beloved mother of Heather and her husband Marc Arseneault, and Colin and his wife Katie Sanders. Dear daughter of the late Joe and Marjorie Wright. Dear sister of Jane Wright (Brad), Joe Wright, and John Wright (Kendall). Dear daughter-in-law of Joy Sanders and the late Dr. Doug Sanders. Dear sister-in-law of Bruce Sanders (Tricia). Much loved aunt of Graeme, Matthew (Zoe), Sarah, William, Rebecca, Carter, Cameron, Lindsay (Graem), David (Elyse), and Justine. Dear great-aunt of Hardy, Remy, and Madeleine.
Patti had just retired from a long and successful career in law, which included starting her own law firm (Wright & Associates) and practicing a combination of corporate, commercial, estate, and real estate law for 40 years. She always felt it was her duty to give back in any way that she could, and she was particularly passionate about helping youth find their way to fulfilling lives. In the last decade she became heavily involved with the Rotary Club of Toronto West, where she served as President, Executive Secretary, and Chair of numerous committees with a youth focus. She especially loved working with the Interact Clubs at local Etobicoke high schools, which she helped to establish. At the district level, Patti served as Assistant Governor for District 7070 and most recently was serving as Chair of Youth Services for the same district. Furthermore, she worked tirelessly on Rotary’s international causes, including providing clean drinking water, ending polio, and supporting education, and travelled to India, the Dominican Republic, and Ukraine to take part directly in these projects.
Outside of Rotary, Patti was always busy, having served on the Board of Directors for many organizations, including Youth Employment Services (YES) and the Canadian Museum of Nature. She was also very proud to have been able to establish the Marjorie and Joseph Wright Memorial Foundation with her siblings.
Patti was a go-getter and an all-around powerhouse. She found a way to successfully balance the demands of work, motherhood, and community service while also leaving time to explore the world, to play the piano, to go for bike rides, and to cultivate her vegetable garden. She lived her whole life with purpose and a laser-like focus on getting things done. If we learned by example, we learned from the best. Her loss has formed a vacuum felt by all who were touched by her vivacious and philanthropic spirit.
“This parting cannot be for long; for those who love as we do cannot be parted. We shall always be united in thought, and thought is a great magnet.” – Barbara Taylor Bradford (A Woman of Substance, 1979)
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Dorothy Ley Hospice (dlhospice.org) or to The Rotary Club of Toronto West Charity Trust (canadahelps.org) in Patti’s name would be gratefully accepted. Private funeral service with public webcast on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 2pm. Webcast and online condolences at newediukfuneralhome.com
