Obituary of Nancy Lee Oakes
The family of Nancy Lee Oakes is deeply saddened to announce her passing on September 5 after a difficult battle with Parkinson ’s disease.
Nancy was born February 1, 1948 in Calgary to Harold and Kitty Hartley. Together with her sisters Darlene, Linda and Bridget they spent much of their time as a family on the rodeo circuit and moved many times.
The Hartley’s moved to Quesnel in 1965 where Nancy would meet her future husband Jim. They were married in 1966 and celebrated their 55 wedding anniversary while Nancy was in the hospital, surrounded by family.
Nancy loved and was devoted to her family. She loved working in her greenhouse, her flowers, going to the casino, she enjoyed calving season on the farm and looked forward to going to lunch with her friends. Nancy also loved her bookkeeping business and her clients who became her friends. She was brilliant with numbers and you could most often find Nancy in her home office.
Nancy is survived by her husband Jim, her children Toby (Amber & Brayden) Coralee and grandchildren Darian and Delany; and family Darlene (Ron), Linda, Bridget (Miron), Lorelei (Terry) and many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid restrictions, the family held an intimate family gathering on the farm.
Nancy’s beautiful smile and loving soul will be greatly missed.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nancy
