It is with sadness and much love that we share the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother Myrtle Ulrichsen. Myrtle passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at her home Tuoi Hac Golden Age Manor in Edmonton at the young age of 102 years and 9 months. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Olaf Ulrichsen, June 1982. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory 4 children, Stan, Larry (Darlene), Linda (Wayne) and Carl (Terralynn); 12 grandchildren, Tara (Jason), Heather (Jason), Todd (Stephanie), Lana (Brian), Pamela (Robert), Jody, Craig (Sarah), Bryce (Raven), Jolene, Christine (Sheldon), Melanie (Tim) and Deanna (Jason); 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Ervin Beisiegel, and siblings Mabel, Raymond, Gladys, Elmer, Dorothy, Alice, Ralph, and Kenneth. Myrtle was a very loving person who valued her family and her faith. She was born in Steveville, Alberta on Sept. 21st, 1918 and married Olaf Ulrichsen on September 7th, 1940. Myrtle lived in Patricia, Rainier, McBride, Millicent, Tilley, Bassano and Courtney. Mom lived for many years in Brooks and later moved to Edmonton in her final years. Myrtle will be remembered for her love of spending time with her family, doing a variety of activities such as playing cards, bingo, baking, canning/pickling, quilting, puzzles, garage sales, gardening, feeding birds, and Bible study. She made the best apple and lemon meringue pies, buns, fudge, pull-taffy and all sorts of cookies. Myrtle was immensely devoted to her family and will be dearly missed. The kind of love Mom/Grandma felt for us was a love without condition. She may not have approved of everything we did; may not have liked some of the decisions we made, but she didn’t lecture and she didn’t judge. She just kept loving us, letting us know that she was there and if we ever needed her, we could count on her to listen, to comfort, to help. She lived a simple life. It didn’t take much to make her happy a phone call, card, visit, or even a kiss on the cheek, before saying good night was all it took. We were the most important people in the world to her. She lived to make our lives better and was proud of us. To think that someone like her felt that way about us should make us all feel very blessed. We can never forget that there is a part of her in each of us, something that she gave to us and asked nothing for in return. Her warm smile will never be forgotten. A small graveside service will take place at the Brooks Cemetery on Wednesday, July 14th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers/donations, those who wish to remember Myrtle, please do so with a prayer. If you attend the graveside service, feel free to bring one flower of your choice. To email an expression of sympathy, please visit Smith Funeral Home Ltd. at www.sfh.ca
