Wendy Louise Mackay, passed away at age 80 in Montreal, at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021.
She was born to the late William George Wannell and Nieta Pye on January 25th, 1941, in Sydney, Australia.
Wendy’s free and fun spirit continued when she met the love of her life, the late J. Gordon Mackay during her travels around the world.
It was soon after in 1968 where they would marry in Vancouver, B.C.
It was truly a “Titanic” kind of love.
Wendy was an active member in their community and continued her artistry.
Despite her hectic schedule, family and friends were Wendy’s passion and delight. She spent many hours volunteering, at meals on wheels or the church or badminton club.
Wendy loved to organize and help many charities. Her continued craft fairs for over 20 years in Montreal brought many people together to donate for a good cause, Families for Children.
Wendy is survived by her three children, David, Andrew and their special daughter Sara.
Our lasting memories of Wendy are simple: passionate, a mother figure of strength, courage and love.
We will miss her every day.
This is not a final goodbye – “I’ll see you down the road”
A Special thanks to our friends, neighbours and the wonderful doctors and nurses at McGill University College Hospitals (Lachine & The Glen), and at Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, who all provided invaluable care to Wendy and our family.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be announced later this year.
In lieu of flowers, we have set up an In Memoriam donation page with the McGill University Health Centre Foundation & Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in her name.
