Mildred Reid 19262020

Mildred Reid
1926-2020
Mildred Florence Reid (nee Ziegler), on December 31 in her
95th year. She was a rare spark, with a feisty spirit, sharp
wit and lot of advice for anyone she thought needed it!
Mildred, “Aunt Mern” to her family, grew up near Harriston,
Ontario and spent time in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver before
settling in Lorne Park. It was there that she and Harold
raised their children, Scott and Christy (Towers). In
retirement she and Harold moved to Cambridge where they spent more
than 25 years before Harold passed. Mildred moved to Grimsby
to be close to her daughter for the last six months of her
life. She is survived by her children, five grandchildren
and three great grandchildren, as well as her sister Hazel (McGuire),
brother Cliff and many beloved nephews and nieces, all of whom were
very special to her.
Mildred spent most of her working years with Peel Board of
Education, where, although she was secretary by title, she spent many
years advising Directors and Principals what to do and how to do
it! Mildred loved getting together with family and friends,
whether for Sunday dinner, bridge night, family parties or just a
visit. She loved it all and made wonderful friends
everywhere she went and in everything she did. We will miss
her lively spirit.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will
happen when Covid allows us to gather, as she would have
wished.
