Obituary for
Mikolaj “Nick” Kowalczyk
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mikolaj (Nick) Kowalczyk on April 16, 2021, at age of 81 years. He touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly for his great presence in our hearts. Mikolaj loved his family and friends deeply, and his giving and kind heart knew no bounds.
Mikolaj enjoyed gardening, yard work and working in the garage, he loved being outdoors and spent many happy moments in the gazebo on the swing reading the newspaper and admiring the beautiful flowers and growing vegetables. He loved to be active and enjoyed his daily walks arounds the neighbourhood. He was incredibly positive, happy, and easy going and everyone enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. He never hesitated to help his family and friends in many renovation projects. He loved watching sports, and most of all hockey, cheering for his favorite teams. His daily routine would not start without watching the polish news in the mornings.
Mikolaj is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Maria; son, Andrew (Ana), daughters, Lesia (Ryszard) and Kathy; brother, Piotr (Weronika); grandchildren, Andrika and Mark (Leticia); and great-grandchild, Kedric; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Predeceased by his sister, Tekla.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Cross Cancer Institute, Royal Alexandra Hospital, U of A Hospital, and Capital Care Norwood for their kind and compassionate care.

Divine Liturgy Thursday, April 22 at 10 am at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral,
10825 – 97 St., Edmonton, AB with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
