Obituary for Michael (Mike) Smith

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Michael (Mike) Smith at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on June 6th, 2021.
Beloved Husband to Leone (nee Chafe) and loving son of the late Basil & Dorothy Smith. Mike will be greatly missed by his daughters Denise (Brent), Shelley (Murray), Sandra (Caleb), his sisters Susan (Wayne) and Janice, his brother Robert and his grandchildren Richelle, Jessalyn, Kane, Arthur, Tayler, Kassandra, and Makenna as well as his many family and friends.
Those who had the pleasure to know Mike will remember his ever-ready smile and that twinkle in his eye as he told a favourite joke or story. Mike loved to sing, to make people laugh, and had an amazing ability of making strangers feel like longtime friends. You never felt out of place in his company.
His memory is a blessing to those who knew him. He will be sorely missed, and forever loved, by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced and will take place at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Kidney Foundation would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
