It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and friend, Michael Joseph Walsh, age 65 of St. John’s. He is predeceased by his son Michael and parents Mike Walsh, Shirley Crotty (Walsh Blair) and John Blair.
Leaving to celebrate his life with cherished memories are his loving wife and best friend of 46 years, Ethel, children Krista (Danny) and Jonathan and his beloved pup Becky who never left his side; sister Marlene (Fred), brother Bob (Roseanne); special uncle Ed Crotty and cousin Mike Barron; sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Louis, deceased), Judy (Derek) and Eleanor and Ron (deceased); as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures in life that were spent with family and friends. He and Ethel enjoyed taking on home projects together and unwinding at the cabin with a good BBQ. He loved concerts and movie nights with Jonathan and passing on life skills to Krista. And it was always a good time with his “OCB” band buddies, Bob Abbott, Ray Franey and Roy Howell.
An avid storyteller and guitar player, he could light up any room in an instant. He always made a point to ask how others were doing and was often heard saying how fortunate and blessed he was to have the people he had in his life. We feel just as fortunate to have him in ours and will miss him greatly.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and other health care professionals who contributed to Mike’s care. Special thanks to Dr. Ahmad, Dr. Young and Paramedics Providing Palliative Care, PC Unit, and Health and Community Services.
Visitation is Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Funeral service will take place at 11:30am on Monday, June 28, 2021 from Caul’s Chapel. Due to COVID19 restrictions, attendance is limited to family and close friends. For those unable to attend in person the funeral service can be live streamed online here. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
