1931 – 2021
Al passed away at home in Edmonton at the age of 90.
He is survived by his children – Cliff, Diane (Barry), Terri (Mark), Dave, and Lisa, his adopted daughter Mandy, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, his sister Doris and brother James, and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Bob and Randy, sisters Pauline and Joan, and granddaughter Stephanie.
Al was raised at the family farm in Highvale Alberta with his parents and siblings, where he worked on the farm and hunted and fished with his Dad and brothers.
Al enjoyed camping trips to the Rocky mountains with his wife Pat and their children, taking the family berry picking, and walking in the woods. He was a handyman who could fix almost anything – from his vehicles to his home.
Al worked at several jobs over the years – logging in BC, working at the Ford auto plant in Ontario, working throughout Alberta with the Department of Highways, driving truck in northern Alberta – before becoming a machinist. He worked the last several years of his career at IPSCO in Edmonton. In retirement, Al enjoyed working with his hands and repairing things.
Family was the centre of Al’s life and when he wasn’t working, he was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He left his family with sweet, funny, wonderful stories and memories. He was dearly loved and is greatly missed.
A small family service will be held at Keephils Community Hall on November 6th.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SCARS (the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society)
