Mary Pauline Williamson 2021

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mary Pauline Williamson (nee MacKinnon) announce her peaceful passing on July 27, 2021.
Pauline “Polly” was the daughter of the late John Joseph “JJ” and Mary MacKinnon, formerly of St. Peter’s Road in Sydney.
She was predeceased by brothers, Michael and Malcolm (Olga) of Sydney; sisters, Francis “Franny” Moncur, Rita Sinclair, Irene ‘Renie’ Morrison and Theresa Anderson.
She is survived by her loving sister and best friend, Josephine “Josie” Kauffman, Sydney.
Polly was the beloved wife of Kenneth George Williamson, who passed before her, so that he could be there to greet her when she arrived, forever the gentleman.
Polly and Ken loved to dance, to take their yearly road trips to Boston and go for ice creams all around the Island. Mom could make Dad laugh with her truly wonderful sense of humour. Laughing was so important to her, as was singing, which she did as she cared for her lovely home.
Polly was a beautiful baker and made something special for everyone in her family, but she didn’t care much for cooking! She was an avid swimmer. She enjoyed sewing, painting and sitting on the swing in her backyard with Josie.
Surviving are her daughter, Kim of Dartmouth and sons, Kenny (Kathy) of Sydney, Kevin (Judy) of Acton, Ontario, Kirk, and Keith of Sydney. She will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Olliver; Kyle, Kristin, Kenzie; Ryan, Jessica, Julia; and Kaitlyn. As well, she will be missed by her beautiful great-granddaughters, Rhielle and Addison.
She will be mourned by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Until her retirement, Pauline worked for the provincial government in the Credit Union Inspections Office at the provincial building in Sydney.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church in Ashby and went to Sydney Academy High School. Born and raised in Cape Breton, she had an infinite love of the spectacular scenery of her rugged Island.
A celebration of Polly’s life will take place in mid-August when the family will be together.
