Obituary of Mary Muriel Boudreau
BOUDREAU, Mary Muriel – 83 of Arichat
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Muriel Boudreau (Mama, Mémé, GrandMémé, Mimi) at her residence the St Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre in Arichat. She was the daughter of the late Arthemise Boudreau-Samson and Clarence Samson of Little Anse. In the early years Mama worked at Booth’s Fisheries but stopped to get married and have a family. Later on in life she worked as a janitor at École Petit de Grat. Mom took pleasure in the simple thing’s life had to offer. She loved to play bingo and cards. It was always important to have flashy nails while doing so. The redder the better. Her days were great if she could enjoy a good feed of Chinese food or lobster, chocolate fudge and of course a good drink of Captain Morgan. Her biggest source of happiness came from her family. She spoke with a lot of pride when discussing the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She liked to have people over when she was well and some often praised her hot crossed buns, stuffed haddock and apple pie. When Mama first arrived at the St Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre, she was in her glory. She spent her days in the lounging area because that is where all the action was. She often saw people who would come for x-rays or blood work because they would often pop in for a visit with the residents. She was a people person and loved to gab. When the day came that she was no longer interested in the latest, we knew that she was in trouble. She was predeceased by her parents, the love of her life; her husband Vernie; children Darrell and Pauline; her brother Antoine and Goddaughter Shirley Martell. She leaves to mourn, her daughter Margaret Ann (Armand) Landry; son Mark (Sheila) Boudreau; sister Elaine-Helen (Wally) Clements; grandchildren Jeffrey, Noah (Frances), Logan, Aurora, Blaine; step-grandchildren Crystal and Dylan Armstrong; three great-grandchildren Hudson, Xavier, and Félix; sisters-in-law Priscilla Bourque and Genevieve Boudreau and Godson Ross Davidson. The family owes a debt of gratitude to Dr Laurie MacNeil and the wonderful, caring staff of the St. Anne Centre where Mama spent the last 5 ½ years of her life. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 2:30 in St. Joseph’s Church , Petit de Grat, officiated by Rev. John Battiste DeCoste. Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. On behalf of Muriel’s love for the color of red, the family has requested that you wear something red in her memory to the funeral. Social distancing, sanitizing and the wearing of masks will be enforced due to Covid-19. Memorial donations in memory of Muriel can be made to the Star of the Sea Cemetery Fund or to St Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd in Arichat.
