Mary Garvey 2021

Mary Susana Garvey, of Hanover, passed away at home on Friday, November 26, 2021, surrounded by family. She was 82.
Born in Carrick Township on December 30, 1938, to the late Eugene and Doris (nee Stroeder) Lane. Mary met the love of her life, Francis, in 1961 and together they enjoyed living on the farm and raising their five daughters. Many people will remember Mary from her 27 years working at The Village nursing home in the dietary department. Mary was also quite a card shark, and enjoyed time spent with the many wonderful people she met playing all sorts of card games, especially her favourite game ‘solo’. She had a contagious laugh and a beautiful smile that will be greatly missed by everyone. She was also a very generous lady and dedicated to her faith, serving many years with the CWL, and also sponsoring 3 children through the Chalice organization.
Loved mother of Debbie (Blair) Gaeler of RR2 Walkerton, Mary Frances (Kevin) Grubber of Dauphin, Manitoba, Geraldine (Bob) Vessie of St. Marys, Linda (Rick) Rier of Hanover, and Virginia (Dan) McComiskey of RR2 Kenilworth. Cherished by grandchildren Greg and Jeff Gaeler, Krista (Jeff) Cade, Francis Vessie (Samantha), Riley (Taylor), Rebecca (Dalton), and Rachael Rier (Michael), Megan (Andy) McComiskey, and great grandchild Aiden Cade. Fondly remembered by siblings Isabel (Ernie) Dunlop, Jerome (Virginia) Lane, Alfred (Vivian) Lane, Gerald (Vivian) Lane, Gerard (Pat) Lane, Theresa (Ken) Heipel, Josie Graff (Jim) and sister-in-law Sandy Lane. Also remembered by special sister-in-law Kay Garvey, her children and their families, who were a very close extended family to Mary. Also sister in-laws Sheila Garvey, Catherine Garvey, Mary Stroeder, brother-in-law Austin Grubb and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Predeceased by brothers-in-law Raymond, John, Pat and Bernard (Corrine) Garvey, Joe Stroeder, sisters-in-law Rita (Andy) Fortney, Burnadette (Ray) Burns, Leona Grubb, and Helen (Norbert) Hinsperger. Predeceased by her loving husband Francis, her parents Eugene and Doris Lane, brother Ernie Lane, a sister in infancy, as well as her in-laws Ambrose and Marie Garvey.
A public visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hanover, on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021, from 9:30 – 11 am, where a funeral mass will follow at 11 am. Father Emmanuel Azike officiating. Spring interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Carlsruhe. For those who are unable to attend the funeral mass, the service will be live streamed by the church, at www.holyfamily.ca
