Martha “Marty” Matheson (nee Driscoll) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully on Wednesday August 4th with family by her side – she was 90 years of age. Marty was born to Frederick McLeod and Winona Euphemia Davidson Driscoll on May 28, 1931. Before marrying our beloved father, she was a registered dietician at the Toronto General Hospital. For the next 25 years, they settled in North York and together they had 3 children: Heather (Keith) Park, Sandy (Anne Hayes), and Martha (Doug)Forsey.
In the early years, Marty loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends. She hosted numerous dinner parties and took great pride creating a welcoming and happy home that was always open to friends…friends who would remain in her life for the balance of her life and she was so grateful for them. Later in life, the family purchased a `weekend` farm and it was there that everyone got hands-on experience with gardening, horseback riding, snowmobiling, raising chickens – so many wonderful city and country experiences that are our parents` legacy. They were a remarkable couple whose impact on our lives will be remembered with gratitude and love.
The family offers special thanks and sincere gratitude to Dr. McDougall, Dr. Kazem, and Yolanda and her nursing team at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Marty will be honoured in a private celebration of life at the farm at sunset. In lieu of donations, the family asks all friends and family to toast the life and legacy of `Marty`, `Mrs. M.`, `Beauts`, `Doda`, `Grandma`, `Driz`, and `Ma-h-h` with her favourite cocktail, the gin and tonic. John and I met Marty and Wally Marheson in 1972 and considered them two of our best friends. Our families are close. Marty was so kind and we spent many happy times together.
