Marion Elizabeth

Marion Elizabeth Arthur 2021

Marion has left us to be with those who have gone before her, especially her beloved husband, Fraser, who passed away in 1986.
Marion grew up in Vernonville, Ontario, married and moved to Colborne then Eddystone then Cobourg. She lived her later years well-cared for by the dedicated and compassionate staff at Legion Village then Extendicare Port Hope. Marion loved to strum her guitar or play the piano and sing to her heart’s content. She also enjoyed bowling in the Golden Lakers Seniors’ League with her sisters and many friends.
Throughout her life, she rarely knew a dull moment. Her parents, Gordon and Elizabeth Smith (both predecreased), made sure of this by giving her 13 siblings. She and Fraser then carried on the tradition by having six children of their own: Donald (predecreased), Larry (Ann), Clayton (Roxanne), Greg (Alice) Arthur—all living in Alberta, and Debbie Brisbin (Roger) and Rick Arthur (Nancy) of Cobourg. ‘Nanna’ will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Robbie Arthur, Lori Ann Arthur, Dianne Edwards (Mike), Melissa Arthur (Cody), Adam Arthur, Valene Bexson (Jason), Danielle Brisbin (Matthew), Krista Phillips (Shawn), Michelle Meatheringham (Logan), Andrea Ulliac (Leon), Tyler Arthur, Sarah Groves (Andrew), and Amy De Long (Jamie) as well as her many Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers Herb (Marjorie), Arnold (Theresa), Bruce, Jerry (Doris-pre deceased), Carl (Susan, predeceased) and Grant Smith. She is survived by her siblings Allan Smith (Betty), Jean Fitchett (George), Lillian Prentice (Charles), Birdie Hodges (Jim), Glen Smith (Bev), Anne Gray (Andy) and Wayne Smith.
A memorial service will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Friday, August 6th, from 1 to 3 pm in the reception center. With Covid restrictions all guests must wear masks, sign in for contact tracing, maintain a 2 m distance zone, and obey room restrictions for 40 people at a time.
For those wishing, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Residents Fund at either Legion Village or Extendicare Port Hope or to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
