Marie E Coyne 19292021

Marie E. Coyne
1929-2021
It is with great sadness that the
family of Marie E. Coyne (Dennison) announces her peaceful passing on
July 9, 2021 at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, New
Brunswick.
Born in 1929 in
St. Stephen, N.B. she was the daughter of the late Norval M.
and Charlotte A. (Thornton) Dennison.
After graduation from St. Stephen
High School in 1946, she worked briefly as a schoolteacher, as a
telephone operator, and part time in the SSHS cafeteria. As a young
woman, she was a strong swimmer and an avid ice skater. She occupied
herself with bowling, clogging, quilting, knitting, playing
cribbage at the Legion, recording the daily
weather, and planting flowers every spring for all
to enjoy. She never forgot a birthday, be it family or
friend. Many availed of her talents as an artful cake maker
for weddings and other special occasions.
Marie was a member of Holy Rosary
Parish and the Catholic Women’s League, as well as the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch #9 Ladies Auxiliary. Until late in life Marie
was active in the community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the
Charlotte County Hospital gift shop, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, CWL, and
informally in many other ways. She was also a loyal friend who spent
much of her time helping her slightly older friends with their grocery
shopping and driving them to medical appointments.
For many years she enjoyed
travelling to figure skating events, music concerts, the Halifax
Tattoo, and other functions with her dear lifelong friend, Marie
Giddens. She will be remembered for her irrepressible
wit and sense of humour, her perpetual giving within
her means to worthy causes, and her unfailing kindness to
all.
Marie is survived by sons Michael
(Paula), Jerome (Carol), Patrick (Susan), David (Lynn), and daughter
Katherine Gregor (Scott); seven grandchildren, Erin Coyne, Eric Coyne
(Stacey), Jeff Gregor (Stephanie), Thomas Coyne (Lana), Joseph Gregor,
Emily (Coyne) Haarbosch (Alex), and Nicholas Coyne; former
daughter-in-law, Erika Conley; six great grandchildren, Connor Coyne,
Paisley Coyne, Hutson Gregor, Hadleigh Gregor, Theo Gregor, Zayla
Coyne; brother Eugene Dennison of Campo, California.
In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John (Jack) Coyne in 1993,
sisters Helen Dennison, Shirley Scott and Elizabeth
Porter.
The family will receive friends at
The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St
