MADELINE LAURA MARIE HALDENBY (NEE BRECKLES): A LIFE WELL LIVED.
With saddened hearts we say goodbye to Mom, Grandma (Grandmama), G.G., and Great-Great Grandma. Born on September 23, 1920 in Toronto, Ontario, our centenarian mother flew away June 3rd, 2021, peacefully in her sleep. Madeline had the voice of an angel and could be heard singing on the radio waves in the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s. Mom was very creative and enjoyed many hobbies such as paper-toll, ceramics, leather and copper tooling, and playing cards. An avid bingo player and crossword Queen, our mother loved life, her family and her pet dogs. Madeline is pre-deceased by her loving husband Harold, her brother Walter (Mary) Breckles, and sister-in-law Ethyl (Clare) Sparling. Madeline will be greatly missed by her children, her daughter Sheila (Robert) Nethercott, her son Barry (Marie) Haldenby, and her son George (Catherine) Haldenby, ten grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom will be dearly missed by her good friend, Inge Reidt. The family wishes to thank all the kind, caring, and attentive staff at North Lambton Lodge, Forest, ON, who took great care of Madeline for the past nine years. Cremation has taken place and due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
