Obituary for
Luke Etherington
Etherington, Luke Everett
1995-2021
Luke Everett Etherington, a lifelong resident of Timmins, Ontario and member of Fort Albany First Nation died unexpectedly on August 17th, 2021 at the age of 25 after being involved in a cycling accident in a residential area of Timmins, Ontario.
Luke is survived by his spouse Megan Belonoha, his son Jackson Etherington, his step-son LJ Belonoha, his mother Maggie Etherington, his brother Jeremy Etherington, his cousin & best friend Harrison Etherington and countless other family & friends.
Luke was born on December 3rd 1995 at the Moose Factory District Hospital. He graduated in 2016 from Northern College with an honours diploma in Police Foundations. He spent a number of years involved in emergency services where he served as a Wildland Firefighter and afterwards pursued a career in mining. On May 15th 2019 Luke and Megan formed a loving relationship and from there Luke took LJ, his step son, under his wing and called him his own. On April 17th 2020 they gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Jackson.
Due to not having a father figure throughout his life, he faced many hardships. His biggest dream in life was to have a family and ensure that his children would grow up to be healthy, strong and the best versions of themselves. He was determined to give them everything he possibly could in their lives to guarantee they would never have to go through what he did. He wanted to get married, buy his family a house and have another child. To Luke, his family meant everything.
Luke was a devoted father, spouse, brother, son, friend, and a leader. He would often be seen as the hardest worker in the room and always going above and beyond for his team. He was a role model for many people including his cousin & best friend Harrison. He spread joy and humour to those around him and always found a way to make you smile. When you were hurt or alone, he was there to have your back no matter the circumstances.
Most recently Luke had aspirations to become a motivational speaker for Indigenous communities and other communities abroad. Luke was very involved in physical fitness and he wanted to spread the educational knowledge required for exercise and proper nutrition to those that were in need of a guiding hand.
Luke is the definition of strength in a warrior.
In light of the current pandemic restrictions, a private wake will be held for Luke with his family & closest friends. Remembrance donations to an education fund for his children Jackson and LJ (Cheques payable to Megan Belonoha) would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
