It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lucien in late May 2021. Lucien was born on April 24, 1949 to Azilda Marie Ann De Decker (Martel) and Maurice Camille De Decker at Montmartre, Saskatchewan. Lucien was predeceased by both parents. Lucien leaves behind his wife Joann; daughter Jenn Campbell (De Decker); granddaughter Shayda; grandson Austin; his siblings Madelaine Dorsch of Regina, Saskatchewan, Loretta De Decker of Regina, Saskatchewan, Roger (Betty Ann) of Kipling, Saskatchewan, Marcel (Gail) of Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, Lorraine Reid of Humboldt, Saskatchewan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lucien started his working career in the family telephone business then moved to power as a linesman with McGregor Thompson where he worked across western Canada. After being seriously hurt on the job and going through rehab Lucien moved to the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer at the Provincial Regina Correctional Centre.
Lucien’s passions were hunting, fishing, trapping and boating which he spent a great deal of time doing with his cousin Remi Laveridiere as well as riding his motorcycle.
Lucien’s greatest passion was playing Santa Claus. He was well known throughout Regina and area for this role. Lucien did private house, office and business parties and donated his earnings to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs. Lucien was hired by the Kids Help Phone to play Santa at the Southland Mall. Lucien was known as “The Real Santa” because he had his own hair and beard. Lucien also played this role at the Northgate Mall, Normanview Mall and Cornwall Centre. Lucien truly loved seeing the joy and smiles and hearing the laughter of the children.
Lucien was a man of faith who loved his family. Lucien believed in living life to its fullest and appreciated the small things. He loved spending time with the family and the grandchildren doing whatever made them happy. Lucien was a man with a big heart full of love who will be missed by so many. You are at peace now, free of pain. Rest easy and know you will not be forgotten.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Lucien’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca)
