Obituary of Lorne Edgerton Gordon
Lorne E. Gordon
1933 – 2021
On the early morning of March 13th, Lorne E. Gordon peacefully passed away at the Royal University Hospital after a short but intense battle with a rare blood cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathy, his son Larry (Shannon) and their daughters, Keni-Rai (Nicole) & Hunter, his daughters Heather (Sean) and their children Jack & Rylee, and Janelle (Derek) and their sons, Finnigan, Desmond & Theodore. He will also be missed and remembered by his brothers, sisters, brothers in law, and sisters in law including Wayne (Muriel) Gordon, Mervyn Gordon, Marilyn Malmgren, Carol Shaner, Dale (Jean) Gordon, Carol (Al) Boyle, Jean (Gerry) Reeder, George (Denise) Wilson, Tom (Glenda) Wilson, Debbie (Stephen) Ganser, Phyllis Wilson and Rob (Helen) Wilson as well as numerous nieces and nephews who Lorne loved dearly. He is pre-deceased by his parents Ed and Olga Gordon, and his brother Blair Gordon.
Lorne spent his early years on the family farm just outside of Melfort where he worked with his family in many different capacities such as gravel crushing, farming and later at Gordon Redi-Mix. He met Kathy Wilson in the RM office of Canwood and they were married in the fall of 1964. After being on road gravel crushing, they settled in Melfort and spent many years on their farm until they moved to Saskatoon in 1989.
Lorne started his real estate career in Melfort while he was still farming and continued full time for another 32 years once they moved to Saskatoon, in fact he still had deals on the go right up until he passed. He loved that real estate allowed him to get to know so many wonderful people and through that he created many memorable and meaningful friendships.
Lorne was always on the go but when he could get away he loved being at the lake and spending time out on their boat. He also enjoyed working in their back yard making it picture perfect, but regardless of where he was, there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family.
Lorne touched many lives and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all those who knew him.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic and the Oncology Unit at RUH as words cannot express the gratitude for your compassionate care. The Memorial Service will be held on Monday March 22nd, 2021 at 2:00 p.m at the Knox United Church (and will be livestreamed) , with the burial the following day (March 23rd at 2:00 p.m) in Melfort at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
