It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Linda Alice Duquette (nee Kennon). She is survived by her husband, Roland; daughter, Michelle; brothers, Terry Kennon (Gerry) and Curtis Kennon (Justyn), and numerous other family members and friends.
Although born in Edmonton, Linda lived the majority of her early life in Lethbridge, where she made many lifelong friends and participated in a variety of activities. In junior high school, she became involved in basketball and continued to play at a competitive level into college where she pursued her teacher training. In her senior year of college, she transferred to the University of Alberta to complete her Bachelor of Education degree. Upon her graduation, Linda taught briefly in Vauxhall, Alberta where she met and fell in love with her husband, Roland. They were married in 1977 and decided to start their life together by moving to the Edmonton region and continuing their teaching careers. In 1980, their beloved daughter, Michelle, was born.
Linda taught for a number of years in Morinville before switching careers to manage the Student Employability department at Norquest College. In 2008, she officially retired and, along with her husband, enjoyed travelling, working in her garden, playing bridge at the St. Albert Senior’s Centre, volunteering for a variety of causes and spending as much time as possible in the swimming pool. Like basketball before, swimming became a passion of Linda’s, especially plunging into cold mountain lakes.
As per Linda’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Arthritis Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Linda Duquette 2021..
