Passed peacefully away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Western Long-Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, Lester T. Hickey at the age of 77. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Loretta, daughter Lorelei Hickey (Kenneth Companion); grandchildren: Lynnette Hurley (Jason), Matthew Barnes, Jesse Hickey (Madison Hackett), great grandchildren: Bryce Hurley, Ethan Hurley, Jack Hurley and Theo Hurley; sister: Hilda Donahue (Andrew), Rose O’Connell (Pat), Carolyn Lodge (Blair); brothers: Lloyd Hickey (Grace), Christopher Hickey (Connie), Brian Hickey , Clayton Hickey (Julie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Lester was predeceased by his son Shawn, brothers: Bill, Howard and Cyril, sister Philomena Abbott and parents William and Clara Hickey. In keeping with his wishes a private visitation and funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 1st, 2021 at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the dedicated staff at the Cancer Centre, Western Region and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Unit, St. Johns, Western Long-Term Care Palliative Care Unit and 3rd Floor Western Memorial Regional Hospital for your compassion, kindness and excellent care. Thanks to Dr. Woolfrey, Dr. Brazil and to Dr. Morris for your continuous care over many years, it was appreciated more than we can say.
