Lammechina (Gini) Ernstine Kamphuis
1931-2021
Loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, Oma left this world peacefully, surrounded by her three children, to be with the lord and rejoin the love of her life, Tilles.
Born in Enschede, Overijssel, Netherlands to Anna and Martinus Fidom. Gini and Tilles emigrated to Canada in 1952. Starting a life in a new country wasn’t easy, but she possessed a quiet stubbornness and a fierce independence that sustained her through hard times.
Throughout her life, Gini joined many organizations, Scottish dancing, walking clubs, and quilting. Her knitting skills were legendary. She was an avid reader and active member of the First Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and volunteering to help in the community. From the pursuit of these activities, she maintained many lifelong friendships.
But her greatest love was her children and family, she transformed the house into a home, made it ‘’gezellig’’. She was there when we came home, making sure we had every opportunity open to us. Generous and fair, never shy to share her opinion, she pushed us to succeed in life.
Cherished mother of Emmy (Roger) Hart, Gerald (France) Kamphuis and Annemarie (Mark) Bissonnette. Loving grandmother of Tiffany and Colin Bissonnette, Mieka, Nil and Damien Kamphuis and great grandmother to Vanguard Tilles Kamphuis and Anastasia Kamphuis.
Many many thanks to the heroes of the Brockville General Hospital who took care of Mama in the last four months of her life.
Special thanks to our mom’s ‘’angel’’, Liz Nuttall, who took care and made her everyday a better day.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 11am – 2 pm.
Covid protocols will be in effect with registration of attendance required. Please call 613-342-2828 (weekdays from 9am-4pm) to register or RSVP below.
A private family graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
