Kristan “Krissy”‘s Obituary
Larkin-Nickerson, Kristan Martha – (June 1, 1979-July 11, 2021) passed away peacefully at the VG Hospital Oncology Dept. with her loving husband by her side. Kristan is the daughter of Donna Larkin. She is survived by her husband, Wayde, son of Wendell & Linda Nickerson, daughters, Natalia, Jillian and Leeya, brothers Michael (Bev) and Dennis ,sister in law, Gina (Alton). She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the USA. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents- Ida and Danny Larkin, paternal grandparents- Martha and Joe Nickerson, her aunts, Janice, Ann- Marie, Helen and uncle, David. Kristan married Wayde -the love of her life on June 28, 2003. They lived mainly in the Shelburne County area but spent a short time in Grand Prairie, AB. Kristan worked at various jobs, most recently the Group Home in Barrington where she was very attached to the residents. She was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia in November of 2016 and spent weeks in Halifax undergoing chemo treatments. In March of 2021 she was admitted to Yarmouth Hospital for surgery which had to be postponed because her blood counts were low. After a bone marrow test, she learned her leukemia was back and that she required further chemo and a stem cell transplant. This took place on June 10 in Halifax. Kristan had some medical issues several weeks after the transplant resulting in her death. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses for their excellent care of Krissy during her stay at the VG Hospital. Krissy was very active in various community organizations -her favorite was the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund for cancer patients. She leaves behind her many friends who she worked with in her job and her community involvement. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Due to Covid-19 restriction, seating may be limited to 150 people and social distancing guidelines must be followed (Immediate family will be given priority for seating). Due to limited seating the service will be live streamed the day of the service. Memorial donation may be made to Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or any charity of your choice.
