June Ferg Friday December 24th 2021

June Ferg (nee White) was born on June 29th,1922 in Toronto, Ontario.
June passed away on December 24th, 2021 at the age of 99 ½. She resided at Winbourne Long Term Care in Ajax, ON. Predeceased by her husband Alfred in 1984, infant daughter in 1955, sister Pearl and brother George.
June grow up and spent most of her life in Toronto. June had three sibling, Pearl, George and Albert. Early in her childhood she attended Forward Baptist Church where she become a member for most of her life. It was there that June participated in a program to correspond with soldiers that was serving in the Army in World War II. One of the names she was given was Alfred (Alf) Ferg. They corresponded until the war was over. Once home from the war Alf courted June and they were wed in September 1946. They had two sons, Ted, and Larry. In 1957 June graduated from the School of Practical Nursing in Toronto. During her 30-year nursing career she worked at Scarborough General Hospital and Bendale Long Term Care. After her retirement she continue to volunteer two days a week.
In her retirement June was not shy away from learning new things. She started to take piano lessons at age 63. She had been teaching herself up to that point. June was a great storyteller and would tell us about her growing up. She loved to write. Over the years she had written about her life. With some encourage in 1991, at age 69, she wrote her life story and had it published for family and friends.
While June was an active member at Forward Baptist Church she served as a Sunday School Teacher and for many years lead the Ladies Dorcus Group. She and Alf were always giving others rides to church. June continued to this well into to her 80’s, for those who needed a lift.
Cherished mother of Ted (Lois) and Larry (Erika). She was a cherished grandmother to Chris, Nick and Jessica. They loved spending time with her, and she would always dote on them. She also had two great grandchildren, Hudson and Charlie that brought her great joy.
June touched the lives of many people with her smile, kind words and gentle laugh. The staff at Winbourne Long Term Care loved her. June always understood the work load they carried and made sure they knew how grateful she was for the care she received.
June is now home with her Saviour. Her lord has said, “Well done, good and faithful servant”. She is now rejoicing with her husband, daughter, sister, brother and many other family members and friends.
Due to the current Covid restrictions the family will hold a graveside ceremony.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Forward Baptist Church, 1891 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON M4L 2B9 or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
