Julie-Rae King Wednesday August 18 2021

KING, Julie-Rae – Yesterday, August 18th, we lost our fierce and beautiful Julie-Rae after a sudden illness. She passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side. Beloved spouse of Alex Barnes. Loving daughter of Shira Bernholtz and Leon King, and daughter-in-law of David Barnes and Laura Bernstein. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Toby, Ellie, Chloe, and Reece. She will also be missed by Miss Daisy. Julie was boundless in her joy and love of life, with a beaming smile that was infectious to any who met her. While her time was brief, her impact was immense. She helped make the world a happier and more purposeful place, especially for those closest to her. Deeply loved and cherished by all, we are thankful for the privilege of knowing her and being loved by such a magnificent woman. A Family graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021. A donation page has been set up for Machaneh Gesher, Julie’s home away from home. Gesher played an integral part of both her childhood and adult life and is where she met Alex back in 2012. Memorial donations to Camp Gesher www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/64251 or to The Julie-Rae Memorial Fund to Support Children and Education Within the Arts, c/o The Benjamin Foundation 416-780-0324 or at www.benjamins.ca

  1. Julie was my stage manager at Bravo Academy. She was kind, cheerful, and her quick responses when her students needed help showed how much she cared for everyone, and made all of the students love her so much. I will always remember her when I think of the best plays that I’ve been in, because they never would have been successful without her. When I heard of her death it took me a while to comprehend it. She was such an incredible person, and I can’t even begin to imagine how she would have changed the world had she lived longer, given all of her accomplishments already. I am sorry to her friends and family for her loss, but I want them all to know how much she meant to many of the students she worked with.
