Judy MacLean 2021

Judy MacLean
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Judy Marlene MacLean on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at home surrounded by her two daughters and her husband of 49 years.
Born, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (Rodgers) Fraser.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Donald “Butch”; daughters, Anne Marie (Leonard) Sampson, St. Peters and Karen (Jonathan)Kirk, Halifax; grandchildren, Luke, Kate and Jake Sampson and Wyatt Kirk; sisters, Peggy (Murray) MacCuish, Laurie Lloyd, Francie Bourgeois, Cathy Lynch, Gina Fraser and Patricia (Darren) Thompson; brothers, Kenny (Janet),Brian (Lydia), Rod (Donna), Donnie (Shauna) and Stephen (Karen); cousin, Howie(Donna) Burt, who was a brother to Judy in every sense; and many nieces and nephews.
At 68 years of age Mom lived a wonderful life. She had 12 brothers and sisters that she grew up with and had a lifetime of stories to tell. Mom’s best friends were her sisters. Her best of times were family gatherings down the pier on Broadway.
Mom was such a loving grandmother. Which most would say was her greatest accomplishment. She would always say “how did I get so lucky?”. She would hop in the car at any given chance to go see them in St. Peter’s and in Halifax. She wasn’t a world traveler but she enjoyed her road trips.
Mom was also very proud of her roots. The fact that she was a Whitney Pier Girl was important to her. You would often hear her recite the song with her sisters. Her relationship with our Dad was a testament to true love. We were blessed as children growing up to witness this love. Mom loved company and loved to visit. She enjoyed a good game of cards, a good movie and Coronation Street.
Moms short but courageous battle with cancer was a testament to her personality. She tried very hard to stay with us but it wasn’t meant to be. She spoke so highly and was in constant wonder of the care she received at the cancer clinic, the palliative care team, and the VON. On behalf of the family, a special thank you to Sobeys Pharmacy on Prince Street for their caring and compassion.
The last words you always heard from Mom were “I love you”.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Donna Viereck and Francine (four months of age) and by a very special aunt and uncle, Howard and Rita Burt.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time. The website will be updated when arrangements are complete.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the VON.
“I hear a voice you cannot hear.
It says I cannot stay.
I see a hand you cannot see.
It beckons me away.”

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Judy MacLean 2021..
