Matheson, Joyce Helen – Truro. Joyce Helen Matheson of Truro and formerly of Tatamagouche, passed away August 13, 2021 in The Mira Long Term Care Residence in Truro. Born in Brookfield, she was the daughter of the late Reg and Clara (Geddes) Dickie and was raised by her late aunt and uncle, Ben and Josie (Geddes) Nichols in East Earltown. On September 7, 1949, she married the late J. Donald Matheson and they enjoyed life together for over 64 years. They made many trips across Canada and the United States and attended many card parties in the area. For over 30 years they welcomed guests to their Windy Acres Bed and Breakfast home in East Earltown. Joyce enjoyed her monthly Christmas Club meetings with Thelma Hayman and all the other members as well. She is survived by her daughters, Isla Lee Matheson and Lianne (Reuben) Dimock; grandchildren, Matthew MacMinn, Jamie MacMinn and Gillian MacMinn; half-brother, Ted (Randi) Dickie; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and aunt and uncle, she was predeceased by her husband, J. Donald Matheson; sister, Merle. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche, Rev. Nelson Metcalfe officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Limited seating is available and preference will be given to family members and invited guests. Live webcasting of the service will begin at 1:55 p.m. on the funeral home website with the recorded service available on the website a few hours later. Memorial donations to Forest Hill Cemetery would be appreciated. A special thank you is extended to Stewart and Evie MacKay for all their kindness to Mum and Dad through the years and to all the staff at The Mira for the wonderful care given to Joyce during her stay.
