Obituary of John Green
GREEN, Orville John
22 May 1925 – 30 September 2020
John passed peacefully at home with family in Sooke, BC at the age of 95. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his son David (Maria) and grand-daughter Sherry (Keith). Predeceased by his parents John and Laura Green, his loving wife Elizabeth (Jamieson) and by first marriage his loving wife Frances (Noyes). Predeceased by siblings Alfred (Myrtle), Susan (Lawrence), Mabel (Wallace), Clifford (Effie), Harold (Dora), Edith (Walter), Etta (Gordon) and Archie (Eleanor). Survived by one brother Kenneth (Liz), many nieces, nephews, and friends.
John had a full and adventurous life serving in WWII with the Seaforth Highlanders and the Korean War with the Royal Canadian Regiment, enjoying numerous postings both home and abroad and finishing off his Military career in Petawawa totalling 28 years. Upon retirement from the forces he became a gentleman farmer on his small farm in Westmeath. John enjoyed his military time, travelling, hunting, dancing, working his farm and playing the bagpipes in many parades and events over the years. He spent his last five years with family in Sooke BC.
A Graveside Interment Service was held at St. Augustine Anglican Cemetery, Beachburg on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.
