With heavy hearts we announce the passing into eternal peace, John Delmer Vail, with his children by his side on Friday, July 30, 2021, at the age of 87. Predeceased by his beloved wife and companion Marian Helen Vail (2018). John was born on March 8, 1934, in Sombra Twp. to Gladys and Vidal Vail. Survived by: children Susan Graham of Sarnia, Bruce Vail of Petrolia, Ross (Mary) Vail of Brights Grove, Paul (Christina) Vail of Sarnia; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers George (Dorothy) Vail, Howard Vail; and sister-in-law Dolores Ellenor. Predeceased by parents Vidal and Gladys Vail, sister Virginia (Menzies), sister Bessie (Payne), brother-in-law Ed Payne and sister-in-law Marlene Vail. John was a devoted husband and family man. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John was a member of the Liberty Lodge #419. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service following at 1:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, those who wish to attend the memorial service must each RSVP with a time to attend: signup.com/go/YsFRVNG . In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Inn of The Good Shepherd or Huron House Boys Home (cheques only when donating at the funeral home please).
