John Boudrias
Boudrias – John Andrew Joseph, (Big John) It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden loss of John Boudrias at the age of 51 at the Ottawa General Hospital on September 8, 2021. John is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Roxy Boudrias (nee Jones), and his beloved son Wade Boudrias, his dear mother Irene King and step-father Maurice (Joe) Babin; brother Steven Boudrias (Charlotte) of Whapmagoostui, QC, and sister Nancy Boudrias (Andy) of Ottawa, including his many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his father Gérard Boudrias. He also leaves behind many cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and members of the Indigenous community and hockey communities who knew of his generosity. Friends and family from the community of Neyaashiinigmiing will miss him dearly.
John was born in Val d’Or, Quebec and is a proud member of Long Point First Nation. John always spoke fondly of his memories of many summers spent with his grandparents in Belletaire, Quebec.
John was elected Grand Chief of the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council on May 20, 2021 and embraced the position and so looked forward to making change for the Algonquin people.
John was an incredible father to Wade, who will miss him greatly for his strength, love & support. John will be remembered for his great musical talent, his love of sports and his sense of humour and ability to always make people laugh.
Friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, ON., (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore) on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 and 7-9pm. A service will be held in the chapel on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. A live stream option is available to those that wish to view the service from home. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, we ask that you register for both the visitation and for the service by clicking the links below.
