John passed away peacefully in Ottawa, on Tuesday October 19th, 2021, with his daughters by his side, at the age of 85. John was raised in Glenfinnan, PEI and was a proud Islander. Beloved husband of 45 years to the late Mona MacDonald and cherished father of Elizabeth (John Murphy) and Katherine (Mark Luckett). He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren Patrick, Robert, Matthew, Nicole, and Meghan. John will also be remembered by his sisters – Sr. Wanda MacDonald, CSM, and Anna MacDonald (Richard Duffy). John was predeceased by his parents John W. MacDonald & Katherine (Katie Fraser) MacDonald, and his sisters Elinor MacLellan (Donald), Donalda Pendergast (Edward), Sr. Katherine MacDonald, CSM, Etta Anderson (George) and Genevieve MacDonald (Carl). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 2 – 3:15pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Fallowfield, 15 Steeple Hill Cres., Nepean on Tuesday, October 26 at 11am. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Following Covid protocol, attendance for the funeral home visitation and the funeral mass will be strictly limited to registered guests.
