Joanne Joan Ward 19252021

Joanne “Joan” Ward
1925-2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Joanne (Joan) Ward (
nee McManus) announce her passing on December 20th, 2021 at Paradise
Villa, Fredericton. Born October 17, 1925 to Katherine (Dionne) and
Frank McManus, she leaves on this earth many people that she impacted
in her 96 years.
Joanne was a teacher to many students throughout her career. She loved
children, adopting two of her own, and unofficially adopting others.
Family and friends knew her as a loving, caring and fair person. She
taught us to be kind, fair, and giving. She had an intense interest in
all people.
Her faith in the Lord was solid. She was an avid bridge player for
many years. She found peace in simple things. To watch the stars and
northern lights, the fall tree colours and reading. She taught many of
us to share her love of reading. She loved to travel but foremost she
loved the Tobique River. She always was interested in peoples lives.
The only thing in this world that she hated was gossip (and
porridge).
Joanne leaves behind many who will miss her dearly. Her daughter Susan
(Larry) Duff, her “other daughter” Wendi Giberson (Mike)
Peterson. She was blessed with grandchildren Josh (Kathleen) Ward,
Katie (Mike) Clarke, Jessica (Charles ) Paul, Ryley (Kim) Ward, Sarah
(Jeremy ) McKeown and Peter (Erin) Duff. Her great grandchildren
Brittany, Joshua, CJ, Alex, Lily, Savannah, Jakob, Owen, McKayla,
Meredith, Nora, Madalynn, and Katherine. Her siblings Vaughn (Lawanda)
McManus, Floyd McManus, Bernadette Cyr, and Raymond (Ettie) McManus.
In-laws, Ruth Fulton, Doreen Knowles, George (Ginette) Ward, and Linda
(Alec) Briggs. A plethora of nieces, nephews and Godchildren. You were
all dear to her.
During her 96 years she experienced the loss of many family and
friends. Her parents, her husband William (Lornie) Ward. Son Arthur
and daughter-in-law Laurie (Cooper) Ward, her sisters Esther, Zita and
Madonna, brother Donald. Sisters in-law Dolly Milton and Jean McElroy,
brothers-in-laws Alex and Doug Ward.
The family wish to thank the amazing staff at Paradise Villa. You made
her comfortable during her stay with you. A special thank you to NP
Holli LeBlanc for your support and Dr. M Scholten for your unwavering
care.
