Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Schiavetta
SCHIAVETTA, Joan Elizabeth – age 88 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 in The Admiral Long Term Care, Dartmouth. Born in Elmsdale, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Cole) MacDonnell.
Joan loved to play bingo and crib. She was known for her cake decorating and giving and receiving lots of hugs. Her door was always open to everyone, even strangers. Joan always put everyone’s needs ahead of her own. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved gathering her family together and always would make a big meal for everyone to enjoy. Joan was a second mother to many.
She is survived by her children, Maria, Anna, Peter (Michelle), Margaret, Angela; grandchildren, Tyrel, Jacob, Nicole, Justin, Johnathan, Ryan, Kayla, Megan; great grandchildren, Daxton, Rowan; siblings, Shirley, Doreen, Patsy, Barbara, Bernice, Rod (Joan), Danny (Shirley); sister-in-law, Linda; brother-in-law, Tommy; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; sister, Dorothy; brother, Earl (Doris); brothers-in-law, Charlie, LeRoy, Harley, Junior, Nelson.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A private graveside service will be held.
Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or to a charity of choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Admiral Long Term Care, Stan “The Man” and Dr. Iain MacNeil.
