Crandall, Joan Beatrice (June 8, 1931- December 28, 2021) –
Joan Beatrice Crandall died December 28, 2021, in her 91st year, and so ends an incredible love story, as Joan leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Don Crandall. Joan spent her last years at the Alzheimer’s facility, Arbor Trace, in London, Ontario, where Don also resides.
Joan was born and raised in Simcoe, Ontario, where she attended Simcoe Composite before attending the University of Toronto, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. Married to Don Crandall in December 1951, they raised their three children in Tillsonburg, Ontario.
Joan was a high school math teacher at Annandale High School for 30 years, retiring in June 1991. Joan’s other passions in life included bridge with the “girls,” boating with Don and the kids, and spending summers at the cabin in Port Rowan.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Helen Grant (nee Urquhart) of Simcoe and her brothers, Billy and Robert (Bob) Grant. She is survived by her three children, Joanne Sergeant (late husband, Jim); Yvonne (Bonnie) Weerdenburg (husband, Andy); Grant Crandall (wife, Tracy) and six grandchildren: Michael, Shevaughn, Lindsay, Justin, Taylor and Gavin; as well as five great-grandchildren: Sarah, Gavin, Gibson, Luxon and Selena.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Verhoeve Funeral Homes and as were Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will have a private celebration of life at a future date.
