Jaworski, Marian ‘Maciek’

Peacefully with his beloved wife at his side, Marian ‘Maciek’ Jaworski passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the age of 83.
Maciek is reunited with his parents Wojciech and Helena; stepfather, Waclaw; and older brother, Stanislaw. He was born in 1938 in Poland. His childhood in a country devastated by and recovering from World War II was not easy but Maciek’s curiosity, zest for life, sense of adventure and quest for knowledge led him to proudly complete an engineering degree. In spring of 1967, Maciek went to a get-together at a friend’s house where he met the love of his life, Ewa. Ewa brought a gramophone and Maciek made sure she returned home safely while helping her carry the record player. That first walk was the beginning of a 54-year long journey together.
Ewa and Maciek were married in July of 1967 and had two children Aleksander and Justyna. The young couple supported each other through career changes and Ewa’s pursuit of her university degree while she also worked. Life in a very unstable Poland was filled with challenges and the couple started looking for work opportunities outside of the country. They wanted to offer their children a better future and knew that it was not certain in their present reality. In 1979, Maciek secured an engineering contract in Libya; the family lived there for five years and met a group of dear friends who quickly became their extended family. Given that the political situation in Poland was not any better, Maciek and Ewa made a very difficult decision to apply for immigration to Canada and were accepted. They arrived in London, Ontario on a very blustery and cold day in January of 1985. Many of the families they met in Libya and in Italy while waiting for the immigration came to Canada as well. They formed a tight knit extended family group with frequent contact to this day.
Maciek thrived on building relationships and loved sharing his knowledge. Working as a Lab Supervisor in the department of Mechanical Engineering at UWO allowed him to do just that.
Being a fan of projects and always searching for a new hobby Ewa and Maciek founded “Little Bee Art” and their beeswax candles became a beautiful addition to many homes between Canadian coasts. Working together brought them much joy and kept them busy long after retirement. Maciek thrived on connecting with other crafters at the Signatures and One of a Kind shows and enjoyed the craft exchanges between the vendors. He spoke proudly of his small business and hoped to be doing so for many years.
Unfortunately, life took a different turn. Alzheimer’s disease slowly trickled in and put a stop to Maciek’s adventures. It was hard to watch a man who loved fiercely, loved to tell stories, and to laugh out loud withdraw into a very quiet world. Maciek might have lost his memories but he will live on in our stories. Stories of his courtship, sled rides with the kids, numerous summer vacations, travels through three continents, ad hoc home and garden improvements and special moments spent with his great-granddaughter.
Maciek will be missed dearly by his wife, Ewa; children, Justyna (Robert) and Aleksander (Jane); as well as grandchildren, Sebastian (Melissa), Maximilian (Angela); and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Logan. Maciek lives in memories of his sister, Malgosia and brother, Marek (Krystyna); and niece and nephew, Basia and Maciek (Ella) with Maelle and Maksym. He is remembered fondly by his “Libyan Family”, with many fun stories from 25 years of camping reunions in Algonquin Park.
We would like to give sincere thanks to The Salvation Army – Adult Day Program for offering great care and much needed respite to Maciek and Ewa; and to Henry, Maciek’s Personal Support Worker from Bayshore.
In early March of 2020 Maciek moved to Arbor Trace Memory Care Center. We are so grateful to all the staff who ensured that “Magic, Maciush, Pappa” was comfortable. You recognized his sense of humour, favourite foods and importance of his family. You took care of Dad and of us. For that, we deeply thank you.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 419 Hill Street, London, on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.

The Mass will be followed by a private interment at St. Anthony’s Mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery, in London.
